Hello! I’m Anita Edelmann, language teacher and founder of Academia Edelmann.
I was born in Würzburg, Germany, but I grew up on the beautiful island of La Palma, in a bilingual environment that deeply shaped the way I see the world. I have always been fascinated by words, sounds, and the cultures hidden behind every language. Speaking another language is not just about learning vocabulary: it’s about opening the door to new ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting with the world.
I started teaching languages at the age of 15, when some parents asked me if I could tutor their children. That first experience awakened my passion for teaching. I completed my entire schooling, including high school, on La Palma, and at 18 I returned to Germany to continue my education. There I studied Business Administration and worked in the field for several years. However, my true vocation was always connected to languages and teaching.
That’s why I decided to specialize as a teacher of German as a foreign language through the DLL – Deutsch Lehren Lernen programme, a training offered by the Goethe-Institut that equipped me with effective, modern, and student-centered pedagogical tools.
I have been teaching German, English, and Spanish for several years, to people of all ages and levels. I’ve worked with curious children, challenge-seeking teenagers, and adults with personal goals or professional ambitions. Every student is different, which is why I adapt each lesson to their learning style, interests, and pace.
My teacher training at the Goethe-Institut has given me the tools to teach with rigor, but experience has taught me that the most important thing is creating an atmosphere of trust, motivation, and joy. Because yes—learning languages can be fun!
I teach in El Llanito, Breña Alta (La Palma), in a calm and welcoming space, ideal for focusing and enjoying the learning process. I feel fortunate to be able to combine my roots, my international experience, and my love for languages in a project that brings people together through learning.
I also prepare my students for official exams such as the Goethe-Zertifikat, Cambridge, or DELE.
In my lessons, I combine structure and clarity with dynamism and a warm teaching style. My goal is to help you communicate confidently and fluently and to discover the pleasure of understanding and expressing yourself in another language.
Shall we see each other in class?
